This friendly, stylish place has been open for a bit more than a month now and is going strong. David and Jean have created a cozy place which brings something new to the Long Island South Shore bar scene. The food is small tapas-like plates, all reasonably priced, and while the beer choice is not extensive it is selective, favoring quality over quantity. They have two rotating cask taps, and currently the regular taps are Bluepoint Toasted and Hoptical Illusion, Chimay Trippel, Guinness, Julius Echter Hefeweizen, Palm, and Sly Fox Saison, as well as a few big (750 ml) bottles behind the bar. There is also a good choice of wines by the glass and a growing list of spirits.

Regular live music (they have a piano!) is a feature, but when not the stereo is played at a volume that allows conversation and the TV is resolutely off unless something is actually being watched -- none of these silent series of images that plague most bars these days. Currently they are closed Tuesdays, and Wednesdays can be kind of quiet, but Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights the place is quite full with an eclectic crowd.

This is still a work in progress, but so far so good. I have brought friends with me to the bar on many occasions and they have all been impressed. I hope they keep up the good work!

Long Island's newest craft beer bar opened their doors Thursday, February 21, 2008. Publican, David Attoe has selected an impressive line-up of tap beers for the pub's official opening. Presently, he has eight taps (an Italian Vin Service, very swank) and two cask conditioned ales being served with the nicest beer engines I've seen on the Island.

You might remember David. He helped Eric Rifkin of Bobbique get started with that location's extensive beer list. David has now opened this new place with the aim of giving Long Island its first real pub. At Once & For All the beer is the focus. They'll have some food, but the centerpiece is premium and craft beer.

David is a big fan of the Blue Point real ales and pledges always to have a cask of Blue Point Pale Ale or some other new offering from the local brewery. The guest cask will rotate. At my first visit the guest cask was Weyerbacher Hops Infusion. You'll find plenty of hoppy beers at this place since David is quite the hop fan. Blue Point's Hoptical Illusion and Green Flash are on draft.

At the moment, there are not any bottled beers. David is going to slowly build up the bottle selection based on his beer intuition and suggestions from his regulars.

The interior of the pub is very modern. It's one of the most stylish drinking spots around. This isn't some attempt to copy some English or Irish pub theme. Think Euro-modern design.

Expect great things from this place. Check it out soon.
