Arbor (conveniently located just south of the Sunrise Hwy on Route 111) is a fairly well stocked beer supply store. (They also sell ingredients and equipment for making that other beverage.) They have a good range of equipment and grains, including sacks of pale and pilsner malt. The only problem with Arbor is that their prices seem high compared to other Long Island beer making supply stores. A 50 pound bag of pilsner malt is $72. This may actually be a result of the rising prices of malt and hops, a fact that has even more serious consequences for commercial brewers. The amateur craftbrewer can probably afford to pay twice what they used to for hops and grain.

They don't have a grain mill on hand for grinding your grains. So if you don't already have a grain mill at home, this is not the place to buy your grain.

If you are looking for liquid yeast, you'll probably have to call ahead and special order. They had the basic Wyeast smack packs (about five or six varieties including 1056), but no White Labs.

The last time I went in (about a month ago) they had a good selection of kegging systems: gas bottles, corny kegs, and fittings. The aluminum gas bottles were cheaper than the deposit on a 5 pound bottle from a welding supply (around $70, not including the regulator).
