Shanahan's seems to be a destination only if you're looking for cajun/creole food in Forest Park. From the looks of the menu, they do it right here. As a beer bar, it's a different story.

8 taps, all macro imports (Stella, Harp, Negra Modelo, Bass, Guinness, etc). In bottles there were 5 Abita, Anchor Steam, SNPA, and that was about it. I had a Pilsner Urquell, and it was dated best by April 2010. Macro dominated list that isn't really worth a second look. I was fully ready to order some bourbon here in lieu of beer it was so bad.

Atmosphere was laid back, pretty bare bones with tv's and some mardi gras decorations around. I'd only stop here again if I was jonesing for cajun, even then the prices were $15-20 per dish.

Bottom line, there are better beer options nearby in Oak Park like Poor Phils and Marion St. Market.
