Best selection of craft beers in area. Brixie's always had the latest released beers from top brewers on tap. Also has tons of tappings and rare beers you don't find at other beer bars. Prices are reasonable and there's always a few specials. Good variety of styles so you can always find what you're looking for. Not very exciting interior but has been getting nicer in recent times. Food is really good. And who could pass up free bacon Mondays!

Ah, the infamous Brixie's. I've heard alot of good things about the place, and finally was in the area, so I checked it out. Luckily I had gps to find it, there wasn't much to look at from the outside, just a brick box with a green awning on the corner. There was a small side parking lot, and garage doors that opened onto it.

Inside it was airy and minimal with concrete flooring and high exposed ceilings. It felt like being in someone's warehouse or commercial garage. A side room had 3 pool tables, there were also electronic darts and a Spiderman pinball machine.

The bar was up front with nice low hanging lamps above. Behind the bar, 6-8 cooler doors with a wall of 30+ taps in the middle... holy $#@! Haven't seen that in the city, beer pouring directly out of the wall, thought it was more of a west coast thing. They had 3-4 FFF brews on, Surly 16 Grit (on special for 3.50?!), Founders, 2 Brothers, a mead, several Belgians, but mainly a big focus on US craft.

Service was friendly and efficient, somehow I got a dollar off my first draft, so that was nice. Apparently Canadian Bk. Stout lasted over a week here, pretty amazing. The beer list also listed upcoming drafts, which was cool to see. Crowd was mixed, fairly younger groups in the early evening on a Thursday. A couple guys next to me were chatting about homebrewing, so that was cool.

Brixie's is a decent little place and I have been there once before, but that was before the no smoking ban.

Going again after the no smoking ban was quite a different experience. Going in there at 6 on a friday and drinking (with a snowstorm) and the place being dead, good service was easy sleazy... a 22 year old bartender who was turning 23 in a week and railing about how 22 wasn't that great of a year... was fun and hilarious. Service when this place is slow is candid, I was made to feel welcome for monetary reasons and bar chuminess.

The beer selection was good. Really good. 30 or so taps, a expensive but well stocked cooler of select bottles and macro... This place had some stuff there I wasn't expecting, founders breakfast stout, 3, three floyds taps... gumballhead, pride n joy and black sun... and some govnor's drafts.... It prolly doesn't turn over quite as fast as some, but they tasted good and that's all that matters.

Atmosphere was a clash of tastes... you have your bud/miller special posters up and hung above that is a neon for delerium tremens. Coors adds next to the dogfish tin... They had a couple of garage doors that apparently open in the summer, but I've only been in the colder months. Being overly smoky, it was hard to drink in here... now... it's kinda nice. The bar itself does well for bellying up and about 20 people can sit comfortably. Real darts, pool tables, wide open space for a little bit of privacy if stuck in a back corner on a slow night... brixie's delivers with beer and comfort...

It has a small bandstand and is big enough to accomidate a full band, so it might be a good place to see a show, pending... haven't been for that, but I will go back.
