Sutter Buttes Brewing, Yuba City, cool brewery in old part of town. High open ceilings and serving tanks out in the open, kind of has a Bavarian type atmosphere. We tried a sampler of four beers to start. I tried the Kolsch first. This beer has a nice lite sweet maltiness and slightly dry finish, a good example of the style. The next beer was the Flood Water Pale Ale. This beer has a pronounced hop bitterness much like an IPA, plus it has some crystal or biscuit malt twang to it. Not much aroma or citrusy aspect. Interesting version of a Pale ale....more of a British style pale ale. The next beer was Riley's Red ale, a tasty malty beer with medium hop bitterness, we balanced and also has a slight amount of that same biscuity/Melanodian flavor, but more balanced. The next beer was Annie's Almond Brown which was actually a really good beer.

But...they won't fill any other growlers than their own and they sell no pub glasses shirts, hats or anything...certainly no coasters.
