This is a hometown type brewery and bar in a rustic part of town. The first beer was the Kolsch gone a rye. Straw color, lite crisp malty flavor, a easy drinking session type beer. The next beer was their Dortmunder style export called Dead Canary Lager, this is a somewhat sweeter beer with a malty profile. This is a good beer perfect for those new to craft beer. Then I had the Bavarian style black lager which has a subtle coffee aroma and a slightly sweet malt profile, another good lager, not too heavy or big, another good session type beer. On to the Ales: Sierra Lightning American IPA, this is a malty somewhat sweet version of the style with some softer Golding Select hops in the finish, this is more of a session type IPA I taste but not alcoholic, this would be a good graduation type beer to someone new to IPA's or more like an American pale ale, but a very nice beer. The next beer was their English style IPA, this beer has a deep gold color and more hop astringency in the flavor, it has all English hops and is good for being true to style but not my cup of tea....

The next beer was the export stout, an English style black ale with big coffee aroma up front. This is a malty version with good balance, 6.7% abv. If you are in the mood for a dark beer this is a good one, although it Is lite in mouthfeel. Last beer was their Chocolypto Imperial Chocolate Oatmeal Stout. This is a yummy dark beer, smooth and silky and reason of its own to stop here. They bottle several beers but not this one...why the heck not, I would take a case....

The lagers are all very good and I would choose them over the ales, but the Chocolypto itself is worth the stop.
