The Minneapolis Rock Bottom is my favorite location so far. I have been going to this site for many years. Since brewmaster Bryon Tonnis has been in charge, I have been very pleased with the quality and variability in the beers. There are usually 5 regular beers, the Itasca Pale Ale is the stand-out. There are usually 3 rotating beers ranging from dry Irish stout to the wonderful rauchdoppelbock. There is nearly always a cask version of one of the beers available. Beer samplers are a great way to try it all. The food is very good, and the menu changes fairly frequently. The bar side can get pretty loud, but the restaurant area in back is a bit nicer. Staff is nearly always helpful and knowledgeable about the beers.

I used to get to Minneapolis a lot for work, now only once or twice per year. It figures there are more options than there used to be.

They have a nice sized bar room, a raised area with pool tables and more seating and a fair sized dining room. Very large and very clean washrooms.

This place can bet busy if there events at the nearby concert or sport venues.

The service is professional, and kind of Minnesota nice if you know what I mean. The food is decent and much better than standard pub grub. Good appetizers, salads and burgers.

They have 4 or 5 standards on tap and at least three specials. Last time, the specials included Oktoberfest, a Wit and a Rye beer. All were solid but not earth shattering.

Well worth a stop if you find yourself in downtown Minneapolis.

Rock Bottom is a wonderful place. I just went there tonight for my fifth visit. Each and every time the food, atmosphere, and most importantly, beer, has been wonderful. My first visit I became a member of the "Rock Bottom Mug Club" which I would recommend. Since this was my fifth visit I received a free glass with a Rock Bottom brew logo on it.
The food there is fantastic. I have enjoyed every piece of food that I've eaten there except for one, and that one was definitely me going out on a limb. The selection is diverse and definitely has something for everyone.
The beer featured here is all brewed in store and they make some delicious stuff. Tonight I had the seasonal dark brew and the "Erik The Red Lager". Both of them were very good, the dark brew almost chocolatey in flavor, possibly even a little smoke-like finish to it, very delicious. The Erik the Red Lager is one that I've had before and enjoyed every time.
I would highly recommend this location to anyone out in search of good food and brew with a decent sized budget.
