Surdyk's is a huge and historically relevant player in the Minnesota liquor market having been around since the repeal of prohibition. The volume this single store business does (especially in wine and during their sales) is amazing. They also have a well educated staff and a couple of enhancements that most other stores don't have - an attached cheese shop and a walk-in humidor.

Wine is the main focus here. I asked one of the staff how much they had and he indicated over 4000 selections. Liquor is also well represented and the beer selection is really good but not quite in the same category as Minnesota's top ranked locations.

The store has the unmistakable feel of a 1970's grocery store with one exception: the unique chandeliers full of wine bottles and some dust. A little odd for me but that's ok. Overall, a great place to buy. There is a long aisle of beer to choose from with most of the usual quality options. A superior selection and price tier to the places I've visited in the immediate Minneapolis area (from downtown to west of St. Louis Park) with the exception of Zipps which I rate higher.
