I stopped at Town Hall last Friday with some friends while visiting the twin cities.

The place seems rather spacious. It wasn't overly crowded. Although we were there around eight so not exactly dinner rush or late night drinking crowd. We were seated immediately and I loudly proclaimed to our waitress I would like a pint of Masala Mamma. An order she seemed to not take as jokingly as I had hoped. The pint arrived and was gulped down with pleasure. I took a brief pause between my gulps to order a couple appitizers and an entree. All of which were fantastic. I had the stuffed pretzle and a buffalo chicken sandwich.

Overall a great place to grab a craft beer and a good meal.

Everyone in my party enjoyed the food and the beers. We will be stopping here from now on when I visit.

I have been going to Town Hall about once a month for the last 3-4 years. The place is right near the University. Parking is most convenient using the Holiday Inn parking lot right next door, but you can find street parking around.

The place has a good "old fashioned" bar feel. There are always some folks bellied-up to the bar, and people eating lunch on break from their day jobs. I often see people reading or doing homework here (I am one of them!) Service is pretty good, but it can get pretty busy here at times.

The beers! This is one of the finest brewpubs I have found in my explorations. They consistently serve very good to fantastic beers, with a lot of experimentation. They have about 5-6 regular offerings: best are the Masala Mama IPA and the Scotch ale. There are usually another 4-5 special offerings which rotate weekly to monthly, so there is always something new to try. Stand-outs are the Czar Jack bourbon barrel aged imperial stout, and 1800 english IPA. They have a regular line-up sampler and a seasonal sampler, so try them all! There is also usually one or two of the beers served on cask--and they always do a good job handling those cask beers!

Food is pretty good for a pub. The Seven Corners burger is always great, made with bacon and house-made stout barbecue sauce.

Stop here if you are in the Twin Cities!

I’ve been this friendly spot on about 4 or 5 different occasions.

Located on a bustling corner, there is some street parking if your lucky or use the pay parking lot at the attached Holiday Inn.

There is a pleasant terrace in the front (weather permitting) and this is great place to people watch and have a few beers. Just be patient as service is a little slower outside. Often there are dogs with their owners in tow.

Inside I like to sit either at the bar or at one of the tables in bar room. Service is quicker here. There are some TVs scattered about so you can keep up on the games. You may see folks playing chess, writing in journals or reading. It is that type of place.

The food is decent but I usually will eat somewhere else and just drink here. Appetizers are a good option.

I’m a pretty big fan of most of their beers. I have had a good ESB on cask, a chewy stout, a nice Wit, a good amber and of course that beer that locals love to pimp the Masala Mama IPA (which is actually pretty good!).

I can easily recommend a stop when visiting the Cities.

Was pleasantly surprised by this brewery. Food was very good and beer was also good. Had maybe the best salad I have had - steak/wild rice salad with creole ranch dressing - awesome.

They had 5 regular rotation beers, I tried the oatmeal stout, it was good, but not great, definitely could taste the oatmeal. Also offered an english bitter, dortmunder and a few others. Also offered 5 special brews/cask offerings. Tried the Smoked porter - I'd call this a rauchbier, tough drink a whole pint unless you really like smoke beer. Also had a cherry tripel which was definitely worth a try. Excellent, not an artificial taste, but definitely a good tart cherry flavor.

A little bit of a walk from the metrodome but walkable. Also very close to the Holiday Inn hotel.

It's been like 4 years since I've been to town hall... good to be back, good to see some things have and haven't changed...

beer selection was 10 or so beers with two cask options... mango mama and pils were my choices, along with healthy samples of a handful of other beers... I like the beer here, it's hard to not like the beer here...

Service was great because once I was outed as a chicago person, I got a healthy dose of ribbing and shit for the chicago teams (baseball) performances lately, giving other teams hope for wild card spots... my beer was never empty and their selection was never wanting and my glass was mostly clean... mostly.

and now for the atmosphere...

it's a super beautiful place... wonderful bar that seats about 30ish, large off room with a lot of tables and such for diners that aren't always beer drinkers but prolly are as the place can fill.. but not on friday... weird. they have their system on display and you can look on as it sits there immobile... swag is decent and available near the bathrooms...

Its got an english pub feel to it, nicely darkened for the obnoxious or for the quiet conversationalist... you could easily work in here as go out for a drink with your crew.

food's good... had a couple of apps... pretzels and cheeze curds, as I'm watching my girlish figure..

town hall is a great central location to the downtown with easy access to places like lake street or whathaveyou...

the holiday inn that's across the street from town hall makes it a destination that's easy to stumble away from and into a waiting bed.

I had no trouble with street parking.

This place is probably most famous for its Masala Mama IPA. It is a great established brewpub with great pub fare and a very relaxed but chatty atmosphere (it gets a little loud). On my most recent visit I enjoyed the Masala Mama (and another IPA, I forget the name) with a Basic Burger topped with bleu cheese and a side of fries. Everything was delicious. The place is pretty much split 50/50 bar and dining room. The rooms have a high ceiling which somehow didn't help keep down the conversation level. There appeared to be no smoking, too. There are some pool tables and there's an ample patio. The Masala Mama IPA is the reason I first visited this place. I had sampled it at the Real Ale Festival many years ago in Chicago and when I started traveling to Minnesota for work I had the opportunity to revisit Town Hall's excellent IPA and most famous beer. In fact, a recent expansion allow the brewer to produce a "double" batch of this beer. The beer selection is not huge, but filled out with a few guest beers. There are usually about a half-dozen house brews and few more guest taps. The service was attentive enough the server was friendly.

This person needs 3 or more reviews on the site for their scores to start counting.

Town Hall Brewery is one of the few brewpubs that has both good beer and good food, though sometimes I think the chef gets a little too adventurous.

They brew a good selection of standards including an excellent IPA as well as some specialties when the urge hits them. Their tap and bottle selection from other breweries is quite good too. Last time I was there, they had The Duchess on tap.

Their food ranges from typical bar food to bistro faire. The only time I have been disappointed was when I had the buffalo chicken penne. It was too sour and not hot enough (of course, this is Minnesota.

I strongly recommend this place for lunch or dinner with friends or co-workers. If you're on a date here, try not to get too distracted by the wait staff.
