Jacoby's German Biergarten stands in downtown Detroit about halfway between Greektown and the Ren Center. It's a century-old brick relic of motown Detroit. (My kind of place.)

We walked in at 7:00 on a Friday night to a packed room. Most of the people left shortly after to beat the face-off of a 7:30 hockey game at the Joe. We found a table in the corner and waited. The mass exodus caused our server to be delayed. (big group, seperate checks, one credit card terminal) The busser jumped in and got our drink orders. Problem solved.

The menu at Jacoby's is a combination of German favorites and standard pub fare. I chose the jager schnitzel with red cabbage. It was good base food for a night of drinking. (and tasty!)

The beer list had german favorites, standard imports, and Michigan brewed ales. I had Short's Huma with my schnitzel. We all had Short's except for one friend who opted for optimator with his weiswurst.

I really like this place. I'd eat and drink here again.
