Old Town Draught House is a true neighborhood bar, in the most pure sense of the word.

On any given evening, you will find a great mix of professors, former/current students, young professionals and neighborhood regulars.

The owner does a nice job of rotating the tap handles on a fairly regular basis and other than PBR, the beer selection is one of the best in Greensboro.

The staff is well educated on both the menu and beer/wine/liquor selections and very responsive.

The food is above par for a bar setting and the Chicken Philly is a must try.

Rather you are a resident or just a visitor, if you are looking for a good pint of beer at a reasonable price, there is no better place to go than Old Town.

Old Town Draught House used to be a regular Wednesday night out for me. It is a small bar/restaurant that is being encircled by UNCG. There is a small outside area for drinking/dining/people watching. Parking can be tricky, as it is practically on-campus and next door to Yum-Yum, a Greensboro institution for ice cream and hot dogs.

The inside consists of a long L-shaped bar, a counter with stools and three booths. Smoking is allowed inside, but there is good ventilation. This place can get very crowded on Wednesday nights when all beers are $1 off (except PBR). There are 17 taps, seven of which are currently from local brewpub Natty Greene's. Old Town was once owned by the guys who own Natty's. Good selection of domestic and import micros. There is always at least one IPA on. PBR is the only crap on-tap.

Food is decent pub grub that is fairly priced. All in all, not a bad place to have a pint. Go early if the college crowd isn't your thing.

edited 10-15-08: I've been back a couple of times recently and think this place is better than my score would have indicated.
