I visited Our Mutual Friend on a Friday afternoon. It was pretty quiet when I arrived though the crowd started showing up shortly after. They have several beers they brew in their 3 bbl system with nine beers on tap when I was there. The best of the bunch IMHO was the Dry Coffee Stout with coffee from the roaster shop next door. They also contract out the malting and plan to do their own malting in the future. Their 3-4 ounce samples are $2 each and pints are $5. Growlers are $14 for the growler and beer, $10 for refills; $19/$14 for their seasonal beers. They have been open less than a year and can’t keep up with the demand. The actual tasting room is pretty small and is probably packed on Friday nights. There is plenty of street parking. They don’t have food service but there is a rotating food truck in the evenings. They do have a small patio. Thursdays are for the DJ (vinyl only). Next time I’m in Denver I’ll be heading to OMF for more great beer.

Our Mutual Friend is a nice neighborhood brewery in the Five Points Neighborhood of Denver. The atmosphere was low key, the service was good, and the beer was excellent.

I was there on a Thursday afternoon, there were a moderate amount of folks there and it started filling up as more people got off work. The tasting room is moderate size but I could see it filling up on a Friday night or the weekend. There's a nice little patio outside. Food could be purchased from a food truck parked outside. There is a rotating schedule of them posted on the wall behind the bar.

But for the real reason to come to this place...the beer. The selections I tried were interesting but excellent. I started with the DRY coffee stout. Emphasis on the dry. I like coffee, and this beer hit the spot. The beans used must be pretty top notch themselves. It was a roasty, medium bodied beer that finished crisp and dry, similar to a dry Irish stout. The lighter Session Ale was middle of the road, but I could see it being easy to knock a couple of these back on a summer afternoon. Light in body but full on flavor with typical fruity ale notes. The best of the bunch was the Pale Ale. It is will take you by surprise. The complex combination of malts and hops give this beer a strong citrusy start that quickly moves into earthy flavors. Even with it's complexity it finishes clean and leaves you wanting another sip.
