Stopped here recently on a vinyl run to Shake Rattle & Read down the street. I had vaguely recalled the Fat Cat mentioned on a list of places with "good beer". It's a block up from the Green Mill, and a couple of LGBT sports bars. Fat Cat seemed more like a trendy neighborhood place, with huge glass panel windows and modern retro fixtures inside.

They were pouring Ayinger Hefe on draft, into it's proper glass, and had a seasonal on from New Belgium, Hoptober. Other notables were Mad Hatter, Holy Moses, and Dead Guy. It seemed that they rotated a few seasonals, but the majority of the beer list stays the same. Most of the beers are listed on their website.

Food wise I tried the "Rueben balls" which were interesting, but were more kraut than corned beef. The menu seemed to have some creative items on it, a few veg/lite options, with a good variety overall.

There was a relatively mild-mannered pub crawl here when I visited, so I can't comment on the crowd. It seemed to be fairly multicultural which was nice to see. There was ample patio seating with comfy looking upholstered chairs and coffee tables.

To sum up, this may not be a beer geek's mecca, but in an area starved for craft beer establishments, it's a welcome respite.
