This was where I went for Thanksgiving evening. I apologize for the delay in reviewing it.
Joe A. was publicizing this day's event. It occurs that Joe A. was the bartender there that evening. I will be magnanimous.
I want to get the 'secret reason' why I am giving Friar Tuck this high a rating out here at the kickoff. There are scores of photographs of prior parties held at the venue. The majority of which coincide with Halloween.
But you should glimpse the photographs from 1973. OK? I will not elaborate.
There are two television sets in the venue. I think it subscribes to cable TV (only - and I couldn't identify which corporation).
Especially due to the photographs, the venue is oozing with character.
This tavern could get a five-star rating at some future point if it would just increase its beers beyond the behemoth megabrews. It may be headed that way. Budweiser Amber Ale [A-BiB's New Belgium Fat Tire knock-off] ($6) is one of the four taps on. (Budweiser, Bud Light [$5 pitchers], and Michelob Amber Bock [$6 pitchers] are the other three draft beers.)
There is also a bottled beer of the month.
If you can tolerate the megabrews, the personal pitchers are the way to go here.

Transit options: You are very close to two bus routes which run lengthy portions of the day. The #36 Broadway bus runs northbound until 1:40 am, and southbound until 12:45 am.
The #77 Belmont bus runs from Lake Shore Drive until 12:40 am. Otherwise, you have a two-block walk north; and then a three-block walk west [to Belmont & Halsted], a 3½-block walk west [to Clark St.], or a four-block walk west [to the Red or Brown Line "L" station].
