Surprisingly good selection for such a small store. A few rarities, and the only place in the area you can purchase regional craft beers all over the country. I've lived in 4 states across the country, and found at least one of my local favorites at Evanston First. The store won't win any beauty contests, but the staff is very friendly, the service is hassle-free, and they always have boxes on hand to help you out with big purchases.

I've been in here a few times, usually just out of curiosity.
Beer is toward the back, where you'll also find another register counter. Strangely enough they sell ping pong balls here for all your beer pong needs...telltale sign of the proximity to Northwestern.

Some of the beer shelves are dusty, and there's likely alot of old product lying around. There are a fair amount of Belgians, some single bottles are curiously taped together in multiples. Last time I was here I picked some Tripel Karmeliet, and it was past it's prime. Too bad I had to buy more than one to find that out. Other "aged" bottles may fare better, but my advice is not to waste your time here. They do have a decent micro selection, including 3 Floyds and Founders. Nothing too rare or out of the ordinary though.

If you're a student BA at Northwestern, this may be your best option within walking distance. Everyone else, there's really no need to stop here, except if you're going to a BYOB restaurant nearby. Also, Vintage Vinyl is a pretty cool little record shop close by on Davis.
