Ethereal; extremely delicate or refined -- heavenly -- relating to the upper regions of space

All of the above could apply to Ethereal Brewing in Lexington.

Except for the location. It is a bit hard to find.

Located on a side street surrounded by buildings that are hard to define and certainly could not be described as ethereal.

However, the brewery itself, once discovered, sits next to a restaurant and ice cream parlor so one can drink, eat and have dessert (not necessarily in that order) for a complete dining experience.

When wife Persimmon and I arrived (as we continued our year-long jaunt around the country) the place was packed; folks watching the local hockey game on TV (which was being played just down the road) so the sound was up, the noise level just under 11 on a scale of 10. The bartenders however were very accommodating honoring our request to taste a few beers before deciding.

We chose a chocolate raspberry stout...a Russian Imperial, a wild berry stout full of body and life and roasted goodness. At 12 & 13%, it was plenty to hold us over until the next stop and food.

Neither were delicate or refined but most assuredly heavenly and a treasure to find.

Make a point to stop and be inspired.
