A brick building with blue awnings, this 5-story 43-room hotel was built in 1912. Bier Baron consists of two bars, one downstairs and one upstairs on the main floor of the hotel. Since 1957 a craft beer bar called Brickskeller operated downstairs, but later reopened as Bier Baron. When I visited only the upper bar was open. It has a 12 chair wooden tiled bar with several overhead televisions for sports. Further past the bar are plenty of dining tables and a large projection screen. The walls are adorned with beer paraphernalia and several beer can collections. The low ceiling and dim lighting create the feel of an English tavern. Each of the two bars has its own beer selection, with about two dozen beers on tap in each. Bier Baron rotates which bar is open so that the draft beer stays fresh. The bars also share an offering of well over 300 varieties of bottled beer. Many are typical domestic and imported bar standards, but the selection also includes a great variety of national crafts and impressive European brews. In addition to full pours they offer 3 tasters for $10, and on Sundays all draft beer is 1/2 price! The food menu is simple English pub fare, nothing special. The bartenders are amicable and informative. Bier Baron has a great beer selection in a warm tavern atmosphere. Cheers.

This used to be called Brickskellers, so look for reviews on them to find more info.

This was my second time here, and the first time I've eaten hear. The beer menu is HUGE, and it's broken down by styles. If you can't find a beer you like here, it doesn't exist. The staff seems beer knowledgeable. There were about 50 beers on tap and pages and pages of beers in bottles. The even have Bud and Miller so you can bring your friends who are not beer geeks.

The food was good, not fabulous, but good. The staff was very helpful picking a menu selection. I'd go back there again.
