Brasserie Beck offers upscale dining and sophisticated drinks. The bold exterior has a black marble facade with large windows, and a front patio with small tables and umbrellas. Street parking is metered, or you may use their $10 valet service. Upon entering, the dining area is straight ahead and further back the kitchen is easily visible in an enclosed glass windowed room. To the right is the bar area with an 18 stool marble top bar and a few high top tables. They have 11 taps of uncommon craft brews, mostly European selections, which are served in elegant glassware. The bottled beer menu consist of about 120 domestic and imported craft beers. It is a good selection, but be warned that the prices are a bit high. The food menu is upscale gourmet cuisine carefully crafted from a great variety of fine ingredients. Even the simplest dishes are masterfully prepared. The decor is white surfaces with black wooden trim, with a motif of blue accents. The service was professional and prompt, and yet slightly inattentive when things got busy. My conclusion is that Brasserie Beck offers a nice upscale atmosphere, with great dishes and drink, but is too expensive for routine visits.

Brasserie Beck is perhaps the finest Belgian beer restaurant in Washington, D.C. Correct glassware is used to serve from many taps not available elsewhere in the D.C. area, and often, not elsewhere in the United States. The food is top notch, particularly the moules frites. Beer is often used in the food preparation, even for desert. While not cheap, you are bound to have a good beer, meal, and time at Brasserie Beck. Outdoor seating is a nice added plus.
