I've heard rumors that Old Capitol was to take brewing off-site, and confirmed that as we stopped in for a beer. This location will be a pub in conjunction with Great River Brewery, a new production facility in Davenport headed by Paul Krutzfeldt, who's been brewing at this location until recently.
The Great River beers were on tap, along with a few guest beers. We tried all five, a light Mexican lager (a little buttery), a red ale, brown ale, pale ale and a stout. My wife and I both settled in on a pint of the brown ale, which had a lot of character.
Speaking of characters, we met some nice ones around the bar, which was quiet on this Saturday afternoon. The bartender was very friendly and helpful, and since this location's food choice is pretty much frozen pizza, he helped us sort out several options for a more substantial meal, complete with directions to two different places.
Atmosphere was college town bar, with pool tables and off-street parking in the rear (though you had to feed a meter).
