Bone Dry is located on one of the busier streets going through Highland. Ridge Road is Indiana Route 6 and is often used as an East-West alternate to the Borman Expressway.
The building is constructed of concrete blocks that support a low flat roof. Parking in front of the building is reserved for motorcycle parking. There is ample parking on the sides and in the rear.
By my previous paragraph you are probably thinking “biker bar”. Well it’s more like a biker friendly place than a true biker bar. The owner, Joany, rides a Honda and she won’t put up with anyone disturbing her peace.
Walking in you will notice the L shaped bar, dart machines and numerous booths. Toward the rear there is another room with a small stage for live music, a pool table, and more booths and tables.
Wednesday nights there is live bluegrass music and weekends bring live acoustic music.
Bone Dry is a place that I can often be found at. It is pretty much my local bar and they have a decent selection of micros and crafts on tap. Normally there are three of Three Floyds beers, a Bell’s or two, and another one you probably won’t see too many places. The prices can not be beat. This place can claim selling more Three Floyds draft beer than anywhere else in the state of Indiana and that includes Three Floyds Brewpub. For this area they do have a pretty darn good selection of quality beers, on tap and in bottles.
UPDATE: There are all new barstools in there. This place can get pretty smoky and they don’t have wi-fi. They now employeee a chef and he is there Friday, Saturday & Sunday. This man is incredible! He specializes in seafood, but can make just about anything. His seared scallops are to die for! Stuffed peppers, ribs, pork tenderloin, even his hamburger is fantastic. Don't forget to try the seafood; coconut shrimp, mahi-mahi, red snapper, etc.
This place does a lot of charity work in the community supporting local food pantries, ABATE of Indiana, Opportunity Enterprise, Lake County Fish & Game Protective Association, and others. The events and fundraisers are always a good time. (where else can you see a bar owner wrestling in chocolate pudding for a fundraiser?)
On tap as of August 28th, 2007: Three Floyds-Alpha King, Pride & Joy, Fantabulous Resplendence Bell’s-Batch 8000, Oberon Flying Dog-Doggie Style
In the wings: Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale and, allegedly, a Goose Island Anniversary is on reserve.
