The selection is standard and drinkable. I'm not sure that I'd go out of my way for this all the time, but if you haven't tried their beer, I'd suggest you'd give it a shot.

I tried their IPA, Wheat, Blueberry Wheat, and Brown. I did try the sampler the first time, but that was a while ago. Drinkable everyday beers. I could see this being a local hang out.

The food was typical American bar food, enough to accompany the beer. Good if you have a craving for pizza and wings.

The small patio is nice when the weather is good. The service is great. The staff is friendly. The prices were definitely reasonable.

It's a good stop before you pick up your brewing supplies at Kennywood.

Hello David Hunter, It's Darren. I in no way was condescending to you that night, I never made fun of you and I treat my patrons with respect (if anything I make fun of myself each and every night). I simply asked you why you did not clean your growler. Your growler still had 2 inches of beer in it and the growler and cap were encrusted with mold. No bartender would ever fill that growler with beer. Another patron told you to take it to the restroom to clean it, not me. It would have taken 10+ minutes in order to properly clean and sanitize your growler. On a busy Friday night that is not a possibility. This is why all the bartenders politely ask the customers to immediately rinse out and clean their growlers when they are empty. Please respect your beer and clean the growler. Dawn was a table away that night, if you were unhappy with my service why didn't you turn to her? Dawn does a great job at the brewery and so does Kaitlyn. So David, instead of calling me names (neanderthal), calling Dawn, and calling my boss, why don't you just come in and talk to me. I NEVER once put you down, you were just mad because I wanted you to pay $4 extra for a new glass.

First of all if you walk in to the Brewery area and you see the neanderthal bartender Darin, be prepared to be treated like your the neanderthal and you're at Ed Debevics. This guy is as condescending as they come and he is totally willing to watch your money walk out the door if you do not have a spotlessly steam cleaned growler. If your growler is not perfect he will ask you to go to the bathroom in wash it out yourself or he will NOT fill it. I decided to take my business elsewhere. I can only imagine how many patrons he has driven away. So if you like getting treated like dirt when you go to support your local brew, this place is for you. Thanks for the horrible service Darin. Maybe try going on Thursday nights and ask for Dawn. She is pretty respectful and actually acts like she wants your money.

10/08 Reviewed during Jim Cibak's tenure here...

Stopped in over the weekend. We sat indoors, which was a pretty small area with several tables, and a window view of the tanks in the back. There was also outdoor patio seating, where they were doing some grilling around lunchtime. Small bar inside with 6-8 seats, several taps, although there was only the Blonde Ale and Oktoberfest on when we visited. Flatscreen above the bar if you want to catch a game. It was cozy in there, with dark magenta walls, framed art, and a creative chandelier comprised of beer bottles. We met the brewer Jim, and even got to sample some of his grandfather's dandelion wine, which was excellent.

The beer was good, it will be nice to stop in again once they are brewing at full capacity. The Blonde Ale was a new dry-hopped batch, and it paired well with the pizza we ordered from next door. A good place for quality beer if you are in the area, make a sweep of Crown, FFF, and Flossmoor.

What a great little Brewpub! We drove past it at first, but I'm not sure how we did that. It has a huge smokestack right in the middle of the entire place. It seats about 25 people in the pub, but there is a nice, large pizza place connected to it. Also, if you don't have time to drink a full pint, they have smaller sizes too!

The interior on both places match nicely and it seems like a great place to hang on a Friday night. We got there around 3pm and had to keep on driving up the road to Chicago. I think we will end up visiting again on our next trip.

We arrived at Crown just after opening (11am CST) on a Saturday. For the hour of so we were there, we were the only patrons--and had the good fortune of talking at length with Shawn (apologies if you spell your name differently, Shawn!), our host. The head brewer, Steve was not in at the time. Crown is easy to find in the center of town, and is located in a converted industrial building with a cool brick stokestack & crown (of course!) on top. There is a well-equipped dining area & restaurant sharing the space, so it all feels like one business even though it isn't. The bar & tables are in a compact, clean, nicely finished room, so the atmosphere is inviting, and even intimate. The tables have an excellent view of the brewhouse. Crown opened in June '08, so while their beer selection isn't huge yet, they are well on their way in my opinion. For this visit, we sampled all three of a Blonde, Amber, and Winter Special. All were solid & tasty. My favorite by far was the Winter, and my wife liked the Blonde. There are some interesting beers on deck for the near future. We ordered an appetizer plate which was great both in portion and quality, and their dinner rolls with Honey butter we superb. We left with a souvenir growler of the Winter Special. By all means check out Crown Brewing if you are in the neighborhood. We will be back!

I visited Crown Brewing for the first time last evening. Although the selection is still small (but growing!), the beers were delicious. The Pale Ale was outstanding and even though I'm not a hefeweisen fan - Jim's was very tasty. Beer is offered in pints or 9 oz (I believe). Nice to have variety. I would recommend this for any microbrew fan. I can't wait to go back and try more!
