Ridgway is an old town attempting to maintain its historical character with unpaved streets and period architecture. It's a heavy tourist stretch, being on the side of the "Million Dollar Highway," so it's a logical place for a brewpub.
This is obviously a new one. When I came in, they had just opened for the day and there was one other guy and the bartender in there. Really, really, really little place. 20 would easily fill the place up.
They do a sampler and it was reasonably priced. When I was there, they had no food, save for popcorn, but the owner was experimenting with some panini recipes (which are now on their menu) and gave out some free samples. Tasty stuff.
The beer was good, very good if you take into consideration the young age of the place and its location in a small, somewhat touristy town. I would go into specifics, but it's been a few months, and the web site doesn't have their beer list, so I can only go by a hazy memory. They had their IPA on cask, and I can recall that being very good.
You could make a pretty good beer roadtrip out of this stretch of highway but, right after Ridgway, you get into the really dangerous section of the road, so this may be a good overnight stop for this trip. It's hard to say "it's worth a side trip" considering all of the great beer you can get in Colorado, even in this more remote southwestern region of the state. But it's definitely good.
