I stopped by the Lost River Brewing Company early on a Friday evening. The brew pub is located on main street in Wardensville in the picturesque mountains of eastern WV. The building has a lot of history and it has a great atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised by this little gem of a brew pub. They had 4 of their own beers on tap and I had a flight. On tap they had a pale ale, amber ale, a black ale and a wet hopped IPA. The beers were good and the black ale was excellent. I had to have a full pint of that one. They have a couple other craft beers on tap and several mass produced brews.

I also had a meal at the pub and oh my gosh. The food was off the hook. I had a dozen raw oysters that tasted so fresh that they must have come out of the bay today. The bison meatloaf was great and my bride's crab cakes and steak were flawless. Outstanding food and great beer in small town WV.

Right along a main thoroughfare in the mountains. Parking is pretty simple: in the street where there isn't yellow paint on the curb. It's a very small town, typical for a rural area. The place doesn't look like a brewery or brewpub from the outside.

The restaurant is pretty cozy, with an L shaped bar with about 20 chairs. There are also a dozen or so tables. A couple small HDTVs are in the place in case you want to watch a game, but I don't know what they have beyond basic cable.

Their beer list is decent sized, with lots of guest beers. When I was there they had three beers they brewed there, and then a dozen ranging from a typical light beer to other craft beers in the area. They have growlers, the plastic cap type, it's $8 for a growler and $18 for a fill.

The menu is okay sized, and pretty basic. They have a few specialty items but most of it are things like chicken salads, sandwiches, burgers, etc.

The staff is really friendly and seemed to be responsive, although it was mostly empty while I was there.
