Arrived at the Prison Brews on a Friday afternoon for lunch and beers. They’ve been open almost three years now. They had seven beers on tap; Ale, Honey Wheat, Pale Ale, Brown, India Black Ale, IPA, and a Milk Stout. A flight of beers to sample consisted of all seven beers on tap, six ounces each for only seven dollars. All the beers were good; my favorite being the India Black Ale. They do have growlers to go but I didn’t see a price. The place has jail-house metal bars throughout and nostalgic police/jail/prison photographs on the walls. There are six flat screen televisions and about 25 tables in the dining area and bar area with another dozen seats at the bar. Everything is no smoking. There is an outdoor patio (all concrete) with another bar and 15 tables. That’s gotta be hot during the summer. The food was pretty good and was reasonably priced. The service was a bit slow even when the crowd cleared out. I was disappointed that both the server and manager on duty didn’t know the IBUs of any of their beers. The manager indicated that the brewer doesn’t provide that information to other employees. There is parking on the street.
