In addition to being available at several bars in St. Louis, 2nd Shift operates this tap room. St. Louis has an excellent beer scene, but this still is one of my favorite breweries in the area. The tap room is only open on Saturdays for several hours in the afternoon. It's located at the back of a resort in a sort of Western-themed saloon, itself in a Western-themed town setup. It's a big space with a great patio looking out over the hills, and there's a small bar inside. Resort guests came in at one point and ordered beers to the pool. They sell pints, do samplers, and fill growlers. Pints were $4-5.
Most of what they make, you can get in town, but it's always fun to get it from the "source," even though the real source (the brewery) is not here. The people working there were really nice, and I had a good time chatting with the patrons, who had mostly also come specifically for this brewery and their beer. The relatively small crowd and the odd location seem to create this very laid-back atmosphere that I really appreciated. They do have a limited menu written on a white board, and it looked very good. One of the items was a muffaletta, and I wish now I had tried it.
I ended up with a growler of Brew Cocky, which is one of their best beers. At around 9%, it's one of those imperial IPAs that sneaks up on you. Everything there is very good though.
