The Beaver Pub is a really nice option if you find yourself in this part of Wisconsin (north of the Dells near Castle Rock Lake and the Pentwell Flowage). It may be the only decent beer bar between Madison and Eau Claire, WI.

The bar room has 5 or 6 tables & a bar that seats about 12. They have an attached dining room and a beer garden. The Beaver has a Northwood’s motif with lots of stuffed animals, rustic furniture, etc. The bar it’s self is a stunner. You have to check out all the stuff the builder incorporated into the top of the bar.

One of the best things about this place is that the dining room and the bar are nonsmoking. That is a rarity in this part of the state.

The owner of the Beaver is a master wood worker and he made all of the furniture and the bar. Let me tell you, he did a great job! If you like his creations, he has a large furniture shop on the same property. They also have miniature golf, an arcade and an ice cream parlor. As you can guess, this is very friendly place for families.

They offer two beers on tap. While I was there they had the Spotted Cow from New Glarus and the island Wheat from Capital.

Where they shine is their bottle offerings. They offer close to 100 selections including multiple options from Capital, New Glarus, Great Lakes, Sand Creek, Viking, Lake Front & Tyranena. In addition, they offer some selections from Goose Island, Bells, Sprecher, & the WI regional breweries (Point, Leines, Berghoff). I would guess that no more than 15 of the choices are macro offerings.

The micros are reasonably priced at $3.00 and drafts are $2.50. Happy hour takes a $1.00 off. Now that my friends is a deal!

Note that they have a “79” club. You register and then drink 79 different beers and receive among other things a long sleeve t-shirt.

The service was fast and friendly. The food is average pub grub. I’ve had a decent burger and an ok pizza. You wont go hungry though.

I can heartily recommend a stop if you find yourself in the area.
