Located about a block off the main drag in historic Fredericksburg. On our Sunday visit they seemed to have a brisk post-church crowd (church then beer – works for me). They have 10 – 12 beers on tap. I tried the pale ale and Irish stout. Both good. Brunch menu looked good, but our group passed on the food. They claim to be, “a craft brewery with a kickass kitchen,” so I regret not trying something. Big collection of handcrafted 32-ounce earthenware steins if you’re into that.

Located on a side street about a block removed from the downtown shopping area, SD is a pretty cool place to hang out. It seems a little yuppy-ish at first but that settled down as everyone seemed pretty friendly. The obligatory sampler ensued and the 3-4-5 Pilsner was an immediate hit with me, crisp and refreshing. The Fall Line pale ale went down as a nice session beer. I thought that the Bittersweet ESB was solid as well. The bartender had me try a squash ale as I said that I wasn't into pumpkin beers and it wasn't obnoxious, which is high praise coming from me. I like my brown ales and their offering did not disappoint. The rye porter & the milk stout were all good. We had a bite to eat as well. My GF's squash soup was "out of this world" & my lamb burger was very flavorful & cooked perfectly. We're looking forward to going back. If I lived in the area, this would be my hangout.
