The entire city of Fredericksburg is steeped in Civil War nostalgia, but the theme of Battlefield Brewing extends beyond just that war. The medieval decor includes swords, banners, and miniature armored soldiers. The names of their rotating brews (Chancellor, Iwo Jima, and Bull Run) are all battle themed. The Pub is located in a suburban strip mall, and there is plenty of parking. To clarify, the name of the tavern is simply "the Pub", and "Battlefield" is the name of the in-house brewery. The bar has 16 beers on tap, mostly bar standards and only a couple mainstream craft brews. Two of the taps are reserved for their average-tasting house brews, which were Chancellor American Pale Ale and Bull Run Blonde Ale when I visited. The tavern has a few dart boards, and a 14-chair L-shaped wooden bar backed with a large mirror. The brewhouse occupies a small enclosed room in the back, with windows showcasing their small brewing vessels. Perimeter dining tables have half booth and half chair seating. The menu has a surprisingly large variety of entrees and sandwiches for such a small place. The service is curt but efficient. The pub is not family friendly - it is a drinkers bar, and smoking is permitted which detracts from the atmosphere because the place is too small for proper ventilation. Unfortunately, this neighborhood watering hole has an unimpressive beer selection.

The bar side is cozy and feels like a small pub in england.If smoking is an issue there is a large non-smokig side. The brewery is very small but puts out some great beers.Freindly locals and great food. Daily food and beverage specials. My reccomendation... Spotsylvania Scottish 70 and try the shrimp! I only wish they had more taps for the Battlefield beers. Oh... and bring your darts!

The Pub is a good place for a beer and food in Fredericksburg VA. We frequent it several times a month and I usually sample one of their beers or have a half and half. Battlefield Brewing has several regular beers available and a rotating tap for seasonals or occasional brews. Tonight I had a Bunker Hill Amber Ale, one of their occasional beers. A solid beer, drinkable but not spectacular. Their beers are named after famous battles or historic locations that makes for interesting annotations on the beer life list. They usually have Chancellor Ale, Iwo Jima Red and Lee Hill Lager on tap. The commercial beer list is good for a small restaurant and the food is excellent. This place may have the best burger in the area. Thumbs Up.

Stopped in on the way back from Horton Vineyards. Walked in the door & was hit by the stench of cigarette smoke. So used to non-smoking facilities that it took me quite by surprise. Ordered the sampler & got 5 beers: a kolsch-style, a wheat, a red ale, an APA & an IPA. Out of the 5, the red ale was the best. The APA had a flavor palette that seemed really off to me & the rest were non-descript. Was really put off by the smoking & it affected my ability to a good whiff of the aromas. Spent less than 20 minutes in the place, highly doubtful I'll return. If I see the red on tap somewhere (non-smoking), I'd probably try it again.
