A perfect description for this new beer bar / restaurant in Carlsbad Village.
All their food is paired with either wine and, thank you Alex (the owner) beer...and why not?
Those of us who love a good brew have known for some time how well so many different flavors go hand-in-glove with different foods; how much better the beer AND the food tastes when good chefs are knowledgeable about beer.
Wine is, after all, nothing but grape...but beer?!
Well, we know how many separate and unique flavors and combinations have been tried. Some successfully, some not so.
But Perfect Pairings are on to something.
Wife Persimmon and I sat outside behind plastic "window" barriers that made it un-necessary to fire up the propane heaters and enjoyed a Hanger 24 Falling Leaf Bourbon barrel aged Pumpking Porter and then, for dessert, a Bourbon County Barleywine that must have been what Jesus served at the last supper because it was nothing short of incredible. We spoke at length with Alex about the San Diego beer scene (why some distributors make it virtually impossible to get certain beers...ego!) and compared quality, quantity and what badges we've earned from Untappd!
No, we didn't eat but we'll be back because y'see, we live just down the road and when you're imbibing 12% brews, it's good to know that you're walking home.
Another perfect thing about Perfect Pairings.
Bottles for sale...some on tap...great atmosphere...a dining experience.
