link*** CLOSED *** I had high hopes for visiting Port 44 in Newark, but I regret to report that the location is closed after being open just over a year. The initial reports were that this brewery was turning out some very good beers, but the owner wasn't making enough profit to stay afloat. This often happens with new businesses until their customer base is built up. The story as I read it, July 2011 Newark had record high 108F heat, and the brewpub's air-conditioner failed. I guess it was the last straw for the owner. (Global warming takes another victim!)
