Temple TX doesn't strike me as having a large craft beer scene, but O'Brien's Irish Pub is a refreshing oasis. Downstairs on the right there is an 11 chair wooden bar, and on the left is a small stage for a live band. There are also several wooden dining tables and a dartboard. There is extensive brick and woodwork around the perimeter. Upstairs there is a pool table, another dart board, and a few small tables. O'Brien's has the feel of an authentic Irish tavern, except for the large front windows which allow in too much light. Behind the bar there is an impressive offering of 40 craft beers on tap. It is a good mix from Texas craft breweries, several popular national craft beers and a few well chosen imports. It is a shame they don't offer sampler flights. The place was somewhat slow when I visited on a Sunday, but I imagine this place is hopping on weekend nights. Parking is along the street. The service was adequate and my only complaint is that they allow indoor smoking. The food menu is expanded pub fare, with English and Irish inspired entrees.
