Famous is a solid beer shop with a good selection, similar to the Famous in Bloomington (2nd to Friar Tuck). Famous is much smaller, but it's more personable than the big box store, and you may find things lingering here long gone at the bigger store.

Beer aisle was on the far end of the store along the wall, and also in the coolers. One or 2 doors were devoted to seasonals and craft/import singles and bombers. The majority of the selection was on the shelf though. The only dates I checked were Cane & Ebel, which was best by 11/09. The last 2 Fantomes I picked up were dusty (and cheap), but I knew what I was getting into. With other imports, check the dates if possible. Selection was nice with a few gems like Founders, FFF, Oak Aged Unearthly, Dark Horse stout series, and many others. Craft/import ratio was about 50/50. Belgian 750s, Unibroue, Duvel, Steen Brugge, a few others. A couple of staff guys were stocking the coolers and offered help, pointing out the new Oktoberfests and Pumpkin Ales. Service at the register was quick, and they offered beer recommendations.

This store had some tornado damage a few years ago, and was closed temporarily, but i'm happy to report this beer store is alive and well (and has been for awhile). Thanks to AdamsSam in the forums for the tip.

This is one of several Famous Wine & Spirits locations in Central Illinois. The cooler is toward the back and includes a variety of popular craft offerings. There is also an aisle devoted to American craft brews and imports. On our visit last spring, I picked up a couple six packs from area breweries. Wine and liquor are the main attractions here but the large craft beer selection makes it worth stopping by. There is a large parking lot out front.
