I checked out this place because I just happened to be grocery shopping at the Whole Foods that's above it. The store was worth the trip.

I'll get the most important part for me out of the way first. With only a handful of exceptions, all of the beer here is kept cold. The singles and large bottles are kept in a walk-in section of the cooler that's cold enough to make me want to wear a parka next time. The six and 12 packs are behind the more traditional glass doors. The store is quite dark on the inside, and the coolers are angled away from the windows to avoid direct sunlight. A very nice touch.

Overall selection is above average, if not outstanding. Most of the Colorado breweries are well represented. Out of state beers don't go much beyond the better known breweries. I did; however, find a couple of the more obscure Stone and Russian River offerings. Import selection is good, especially the Belgians. On a final note, the beers from the big three don't dominate the cooler space, leaving all that much more room for craft brews.

Mile High's prices are about on par with other Denver area stores. The number of items on sale was a pleasant surprise. On the Sunday I was there, only two people were working. They both seemed quite knowledgeable. In the end, this was a nice store to shop. Next time I'm at Whole Foods, I'll be giving them a visit.
