Mt. Emily Ale House is in an imposing former bank building on a corner (formerly US National Bank, built in 1900) with tall windows in the front and along one long side. The dining seating area starts close by the front entrance (simple dark wood tables and chairs) and continues along the window side all the way to the back. There is more seating in a mezzanine above the bar accessed using the staircase by the entrance. To the left of the stairs is the brewery, visible through large windows. (There was also a very nice 3-tier homebrewing system set up between the stairs and the brewery on our visit). The double high ceiling in the front has ceiling fans.

In the back is a good-sized bar area, separated by a short wall. The bar itself has two sides and is made of a modern polished light colored concrete with embedded stones. Tall black chairs run all along it. The walls are yellow with a reddish brown accent and the floors are well cared for old linoleum. Original art for sale decorates the walls. 1950’s style yellow and orange wall sconces and hanging fixtures add to the modern feeling.

There are a few tables outside on the sidewalk along the side of the building.

There are nine house-made (organic) craft beers on tap.

Food selection is limited to pizza, sandwiches, and salads, but if the Thai Chicken and Chicken Caesar salads we had are anything to go by, it’s way above the usual pub standard.

Mt. Emily Ale House was another surprise for me on this trip. I was not going to stop but the last second I was like what the hell. Sure glad I did this was a great time. Good beer, food and people talking about the town and beer. They had some interesting tap and most where very tasty. The food was very reasonable and good pub food. This is a townie town for sure. So do not go in with a chip on your shoulder every one there knows you’re not from there. The beers where from light ales to porters. The IPA was very tasty and I sure like the Porter. Make this a stop you place tickers.

So so beer, no atmosphere, and limited food menu, altho the burger was OK.

We tried all of the beers, and at the time there were five. All had a similar taste/mouthfeel and body. Very much below my expectations. The beers are served before they are ready, very generic in taste, and low IBU's on all of them. Probably not the place to satisfy your Hop fix.

Don't take more than 4 people total, only one table will accomodate more (six, I think)
