In the center of the small Eastern Oregon town of Baker City, you’ll find Barley Brown’s in a brick one-story building on the corner. As you enter, there’s a good-sized bar area on your right and a long row of nice oak booths with green padded seats straight ahead. The bar is an attractive light colored wood (oak?) with tall swiveling old-fashioned banker’s chair stools and quite a few wooden tables and chairs. There are large TVs in three corners (sound off). The dining area has a classic tin ceiling (painted). Both areas have a brick floor and the ceilings are high.

There are several tables and chairs on the sidewalk outside the front windows sheltered by two large awnings and a couple of broad shade trees.

Fermentation tanks are visible through windows in a brick wall part way down the dining area.

It’s quite a popular place, based on our various visits and the atmosphere is comfortable and local, though strangers are welcomed and made to feel comfortable. It's well worth a visit.

The house-made beers are special, making this a good visit. On our last visit, we found the Tumble Off Pale, Disorder Stout, and WFO IPA to all be top notch. There are eight beers on tap (and Bud Light and Strongbow Cider).

Barley Browns might be in the middle of no where but by the time you leave your going to say wow why did I not stop here all the time. Baker City is a small town and not really the place for stopping when between Boise and Portland. Big old bar feel with lots of taps and different beers and if you love Hops this is the place for you. They have some of the best IPA’s I have ever had. The food was good regular bar faire. The town is quant and makes for a great stop. I loved the Double IPA’s.

Can't believe this one isn't reviewed yet. A must visit for the brew connosuire. Awesome beer, food and service. The WFO IPA (award winner) is un-equalled, and their dark version TURMOIL is equally as award worthy. But there is a style for all, not just my insatiable hop-itite.

The food is always done right, ranging from an amazing Jalapeno Chicken pasta, to steaks perfectly done to order (my fave is the flat iron with their mushroom ale sauce on the side). Lots of great pub food if you just want to graze. Even tho it's an hour from us, it's a weekly event. A+++

And by the way..... They just won "Worlds Best" for their Shredders Wheat!
