When I moved to Tacoma from Portland, I figured that my beer selection would greatly decrease. Tacoma Boys has done much to disabuse me of this notion. While their holdings were not as deep as those of some of the places I was used to (John's Marketplace and Belmont Station, both in Portland), I also discovered several beers that I hadn't see at either place, with more unusual domestic than foreign holdings.

As a former fruit stand converted to a higher end grocery story, Tacoma Boys has great atmosphere, but spacing was a bit limited. There are parts of the beer selection that become hard to browse, because the beer is also on a main (yet slender) aisle. There's occasionally too much traffic for a leisurely consideration of the wares.

I've not had to ask any questions of the people working there about beer, but the staff is quite courteous and pleasant overall.

Wow what a place on the sign outside it says 500 micro beers along with 3000 wines so we had to stop. Holy Cow, Bat Man they where right. Now did they have good stuff was the next question? Well I can honestly say they had a very nice selection and stuff I had not seen before both foreign and domestic. It is an old fruit stand turned pretty much into a huge beer and wine store with specialty food and garden supplies. This is a check out place when you have time and in the area. There are other shops near buy in Federal way and in Tacoma but this sure was a surprise. I am sure I will be back. Hey they had Rainer Ale.
