linkThough now part of a much bigger company and churning out tanker-loads of beer nationwide, the York Brewery has managed to retain a definite ramshackle charm from its days as a small operation run by enthusiasts.
The attic tasting bar is a delight, with its bric-a-brac and junkshop furniture. Samples are generous and there's plenty of time for leisurely tastings after the short tour. It's possible to become a member of the brewery club to have regular use of the bar, and if I lived in York I'd definitely be doing that.
Our tour guide was an experienced and hardworking brewer who did a great job of imparting the joy which comes with the highs and lows of being a craft brewer.
A heartily recommended brewery visit.
