I've been going to A&G since the first day they opened. Alex and Gretchen are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely cool people. The space has a minimal design, but bright environment. I could score the ingredient and equipment selection higher if I count the fact that they can special order anything you want. So glad to have a homebrew shop back in Portsmouth. They are working on starting a nano brewery, so a tasting room should be opening up shortly. Homebrew ingredients and great beer to sample, who could ask for anything more.

I walked into this place the second time, and they were brewing in the back room. Oh, the smell was heavenly, and I just wanted to sink into the comfy leather couch they have against one wall and enjoy. Unfortunately, my 3 year old daughter was more interested in looking at bottle caps, and my 1 year old was encouraging my wife to show him the ingredient kits (he liked the cardboard boxes). Anyway, this place is great. They will go out of their way to help you put together the right ingredients for any beer you like, and the store is small but open and bright. I bought a brown ale ingredient kit, and it's the best of 5 batches I've brewed this year. Definitely recommend.
