This was a surprise. I guess 'Small Bar' is a beer and soccer project throughout the U.S.A. I highly suspect Brian Ching is an investor in here as well.
(I must point out though, this is not [yet?] an _official_ U.S. Soccer Bar. San Diego's current venue with that designation is O'Brien's Pub on Convoy St. in Kearny Mesa. A review of it will be forthcoming.)
This was one of the venues on the charter bus tour which was _way off_ the rest of the route. (Alchemy was another.) The atmosphere here was quite engaging.
Rogue beers were on special here for $3.50 | 16 oz. I am very certain I drank Rogue beers: the Double Mocha Porter, & the Double Dead Guy.
I apologize for the blurriness of some of these photographs. Real life was getting blurry for me at this time of night.
For an environment which was fun, its quality beers on draft, its unrequested showing of a non-U.S.A. Gold Cup soccer game on a TV set, its free wi-fi, and its _stunning_ prices, Small Bar blazes through to a five-star rating.
Transit options: You will catch the route #11 bus. It is a long, C-shaped route connecting San Diego State Univ. on the northeast, swinging through downtown on Front St. & 1st Ave., and out to Skyline Hills on the southeast. If you're heading toward downtown, the course to Small Bar turns off Adams Ave. westbound onto southbound Park Blvd. The route #6 bus to Fashion Valley is six blocks east on Texas St.
