I had the opportunity to stop by, more like hunt down, the Little Yeoman Brewery in Cabool, Missouri in mid-April. Chad Fredrick was one of the brewers when the brewery was in Willow Springs, MO. When he bought the brewery he moved it to Cabool but kept the name. He makes small batches of Pale Ale, Cream Ale, Porter, and Stout. He had the Pale Ale and Stout when we visited from St. Louis. Both beers were excellent even though the Stout was just being bottled. This is a great place to spend an afternoon; sit in front of the brewery on the picnic table and talk about beer with whichever of the locals happen to be hanging out that day. Make sure to have a beer in one of the custom ceramic beer mugs made by a local artist. What a great time we had. There’s no food service, hey it’s a brewery – beer is food. Note that Chad is not open on Wednesday and Sunday.

Directions: In Cabool, MO take State Route 60 west about two miles from the center of town to State Highway M. Take State Highway M North about 3.5 to 4 miles to Dallas Lane. Turn right on Dallas Lane (this is a dirt road), there is a beer keg mail box on the side of Highway M just before Dallas Lane. Follow the road until it forks; stay to the left and you will see the “brewery” on the left. It’s only about half a mile from Highway M. Park in the gravel area to the left of the brewery, anywhere will do. Be sure to take a couple six-packs with you when you leave.
