My wife and I stopped by on our way to South Padre City.
One of the best sidetrips I had ever taken.
The service was really good, and the waitor Was really excited about his job. They had Chicago style pizza which was the best I had had since visiting that fair city. I recommend this hands down without ever glancing at the menu.
The beer was all very clean and very well brewed, not entirely exciting beers, but they were delicious aptly to spec.

So this is me and my wifes second stop on our summer 2012 beer tour of Texas and I was not impressed. Food was alright but its the beer I'm talking about. I've read other reviews on yelp.com and the one on here and even though the consensus says the beer is bad, I thought I'd give them a try since I was going to be in the area. I mean, I love trying new places regardless of others opinions. Why not judge them for myself. Well I was wrong. Each and every beer here tasted the same. As we went down the line of the sampler tray the beers got more and more bitter. If that's anything to say. But they all had that same acidic, metallic taste of bad sanitation. Not to mention they serve right out of the fermentors. If you read their menu it also says they use only 3 types of malts and 3 types of hops. Plus new yeast every time. New yeast every time is not always the best rout to go. But how can one expect to make many different beers from only 3 malts and 3 hops. THEY'RE ALL GOING TO TASTE THE SAME!! I bet they don't last long.

As for the food, my wife and I got the calzone. The thing was huge! Like a large pizza folded in half. It was really good. Though not cooked with marinara sauce in it. It comes on the side. Apparently they have one of the top 50 best burgers in Texas but we ate a burger yesterday at S.P. Island Brewing Co. (who's beer is better) Food was good, nothing to complain about in this department.

Service was good for awhile. Immediately seated. Right next to the front door though. But that was pretty much the only thing available. Almost everything else was taken up. Didn't take long for someone to bring us water and ask for drink orders. Didn't take long before we got our sampler and then our meal. I had ordered a side of black olives and about halfway through our dinner we asked for more marinara. Got that as well. But then after about 10 minutes our waitress came to ask if we wanted our check and I proceeded to order a growler (yes I got one) and a pint glass to go as well as a Full Moon Pale Rye Ale from Real Ale brewing company, and after all said and done she took the pizza tray with my olives and marinara sauce on it that she just brought out. We were still eating! Couldn't she see that. She last points on that one right there. Ugh.

As far as the atmosphere, the place was somewhat small but not over crowed even when full. It was like a typical beach front place. Could've used a little more lighting though. Brewery equipment is all behind the bar.

Yes I got a growler. I'm a growler and souvenir glass collector. So I ordered a growler of the blonde. About the only beer that was somewhat tolerable. I will not return here in hopes to find good beer. I will come here again maybe in hopes to try their famous burger. Oh, and I forgot to mention, they do have an outstanding bottled micro beer selection.

This place just opened. I went there tonight. Easy enough to find. Good parking. Casual atmosphere; nice looking place on the inside, no smoking but a little loud. Very friendly staff; we were seated right away.
They have a very large selection of bottled beers, five drafts that they craft themselves, and a full bar. I started out with the sampler: one each of their light pilsner, hefeweizen, red, bock, and a stout. I don't remember the specific names of the beers, but those where the styles. I would like to see a pale ale in the selection. My wife ordered a frozen margarita which arrived "on the rocks". It was tasty, so she didn't say anything. I'm sure that the bartender would have fixed it. She was very attentive.
As for the beers, I've had better, but I would like to cut them a little slack on this. Like I said, they just opened, and they are the only brewpub within 150 miles. We've had two in the Corpus Christi area over the last ten years. Both closed. I admire the owner for giving this a try.
The light pilsner and the weizen tasted suprizingly very similar. The pilsner was cloudy just like the weizen, and it didn't have that "fruitiness" that I think it should. The lemon slice was helpful. If I had to pick between those two, I'd take the wietzen. The red and the bock also tasted similar. These two were my favorites of the five. The bar tender agreed that that seems to be the consensus with the customers. I ordered a pint of the red with our food and a growler of the bock on our way out, yes they have growlers. I was happy to see that. They were a little expensive (24 dollars and I think 12 to refill), but I give them points for having them at all. Lastly, the stout. It was a little bit to "molassesy" for me, but I'll try it again sometime. I noticed that they also serve that one as a float with vanilla ice cream. Maybe the molasses flavor works well with that.
As for food, they don't have a big menu. Mostly pizza. Oddly, no tomato sauce on any of them, but I guess that's their style. They also had a salad and various fried appetizers: shrimp, onion rings, sweet potato fries. I think that I saw a burger on the menu also.
We went for the onion rings and the "Gardeniera" pizza which is a combination of provolone cheese and marinated cauliflower, peppers, onion, celery and carrot. The onion rings came out first. I don't usually like onion rings. My wife does. That's why we ordered them, but these were really good. Very hot and crispy evenly coated. Good batter that stayed on. I ate half of them. The pizza was also very good. Crispy good crust. The marinated vegetables were nice. Fourteen inches round. We took several pieces home.
Over all, I'd rate their food a little better than the beer at this point. Would I recommend this place? Yes. If your in Port Aransas it's defiantly worth trying. Even worth a drive from Corpus Christi. I try to hit brew pubs were ever I go. I've been to lots of them. This wasn't the best that I've been to by far, but it all we've got in this area. Hope that we can keep this one open.
