Standard chain brewpub. They don't actually brew the beer at the premises since it's against some obscure Texan law.

Food .. tasty, but pricey. A small pizza will cost 'bout $10.

More importantly, the beer. I think this is the best place to drink beer in McAllen. They have their standards .. pale ale, hefeweizen, pilsener, porter, stout, Blonde (avoid at all costs), Irish Red ale. Usually a seasonal is on tap too (currently it's a maibock). No smoking is a big plus. The bartenders can be friendly, once you know them. If for some reason the beer is not up to your standards, the waiter or bartender will gladly get you another one.

The only problem they have is there are hardly any other craft beer on tap. I can only remember New Belgium 1554. They have a few other macros, Stella & Guinness. The house beers are above avg / average, but they can be boring after a while. Also, every beer is served in a standard chilled pint glass. Not sure if this is a corporate thing or not, but different beer styles taste and feel much better in their appropriate glass.

Still, BJ's is the shining light in the RGV if you want flavorful beer.
