Best bottle shop type beer selection I've been to. You can walk right up to a any cooler that has beer in it (super wide selection of craft beers) and pick one out. Price is on the bottle. Take it to your table and in no time flat a server will be at your table opening it for you. I agree pizza is great. Didn't get to sample the draft beers on tap because the bottle selection is so good!!!!
Definitely a place worthy of stopping at for a great evening of sampling beers from the west coast.

The best beer geek bar in the Phoenix area, period. The only food I can speak to are the pizzas, and they are very good, but the beer is the main event. Service can be slow if you are not at the bar, but the staff is very knowledgeable. This is the place to find some very hard to get brews, and there is always something new on tap. I have never had the same pint twice!

Not much to add that has not been said already. Amazing selection with new offerings every time I go. Love being able to sample some of the unusual beers prior.
Service can be a tad slow when busy. Very knowledgeable staff. Bartenders as you would expect really know their beer.
Not wild about the decor....but there for the beer.
Suprisingly good food. Pizza offering are the best. Tenderloin sliders are also worthy. Salads are solid.
Love the bottled beer selectiona and the ability to build your own six pack for carry out.
A MUST stop for anyone in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

Probably the best draft selection Phoenix, and the bottle offerings are quite good as well. Taps rotate frequently and there's usually something on tap that any beer enthusiast will enjoy. Prices for draft beer is reasonable as well.
Taphandles decorate the bar, as well as well-known brewery neon. Customer base goes beyond the strict craft beer lover and I've seen it get quite rowdy and loud in there, but this has improved noticeably since the cigarette smoking ban went into effect.
Service is very inconsistent, ranging from average to the worst I've ever experienced. It's common to get ignored unless you're sitting at the bar itself.
Regarding food, they wouldn't be in business if it wasn't for the beer. It's below average with most menu items, so satisfy your appetite before heading in to Papago.
Location is tucked away in a dumpy strip mall in south Scottsdale, a few doors down from the Molly Maid service. If you see all of the Molly Maid logo cars in the parking lot, you're in the right spot.

Yup, this place was awesome. Best beer place we visited in Arizona. Some great stuff on tap and coolers full of pretty much any bottle that can be found in the state for wonderful prices. You can even do mixed 6 packs to go (wish we would have found it earlier in our trip).
There are plenty of games to play while you are enjoying your brews (lots of trivia type games). Service was great and friendly, wonderful California beer bar atmosphere in the middle of a strip mall. Loved it!

This is a very popular beer bar with many local and regional craft brews on tap. They also serve several of their own house brew recipes that the bartender told us are brewed at Oak Creek or Sonora breweries. Located behind the central tower in the Papago Plaza shopping center, the door is hidden from view but you can see part of their bottle collection in the front window. Through the door is a large room with a fair size bar in one back corner and a twelve door beer cooler in the other. There are thirty taps that include about two dozen regional crafts (5-6 house recipes) and a selection of imports. I enjoyed both El Robusto Porter and Elsie's Irish Cream Stout (both Papago recipes). In addition to the taps, there are often cask conditioned offerings and the cooler holds huge selection of bottles and cans. We didn’t check out the food selection on this visit. The plaza lot provides plenty of parking.

The place to go in the Phoenix area. Located in a strip mall in south Scottsdale. From the outside it doesn't look like much but the beer inside is great. About 400 different bottled beers that you can either drink there or take away. 30 taps plus cask conditioned beer. No crap on tap. Have about 6 of their own beers that are normally very good and sometimes very unusual. Food selection is limited but very good. One big screen tv. Staff is young but extremely beer knowledgeable. They often get special selections of beers from out of state that no one else in Arizona has.

Beer luvvas! www.hopsandbarleyblog.com rates Papago Brewing as Phoenix's #1 location for beer! They brew their own excellent selections, and have over a dozen rotating guest taps from excellent craft brewers across the country (Stone, Left Hand, Deschutes, Great Divide, etc.)! Their bottle selection is unsurpassed in the Greater PHX area.
Service is a little on the laid-back side. Just don't "one beer" the bartender and you'll be OK. If you're going to eat - stick to the Beer Bites and pizza selections. This is a pub that focuses on the pub, not the grub.
When you're in town, make a point to experience Papago Brewing - now Smoke Free!
