Dale's pale ale is noted as the first micro-brew to be canned in the u.s., and as such, is the choice barley pop of many backpackers and river rats. the atmosphere of this multilevel brewpub, is what i think, andy warhol's art factory would have been like if he were hammered all the time and listened to stevie ray vaughn. this place has some of the best (and worst) art to be found in a brewpub. some people think it's too cluttered and kitschy, but i dig it. as you walk in, note the jesus/elvis portrait w/ real bird feathers glued to his shoulders, this is a good indicator of obb's gonzo style. oskar blues is known to have music nearly everyday, mostly blues but, also heavy w/ dead cover bands and the day we were there, a polka band. the food was standard mountain town grub, burgers and some veggie options. we tasted the dale's p.a. of course, as well as the gordon and the old chub. although they tasted fine after a day on trail, there was a distinct grit to the gordon and chub, just a little off. the dale's was clean and smooth, but sure tastes a little sweeter when your drinking it out of the can, floating down the colorado river.

This place is great. It was a madhouse when we arrived and had to wait quite a while for a table, but the funky, bluesified, American folk art was good waiting atmosphere. Great tunes. Bars both upstairs and down, and outdoor seating.

We had the Yella Pils, doppelbock, Old Chub and oak-aged Ten Fidy. All excellent. I ordered the beans and rice, which was tasty. The staff was friendly, but my only complaint would be that I never really saw a board with a beer list as I perused during our wait. The hostess found me a beer list, but it didn't include the doppel and one other seasonal--and then the waitress wasn't quick to articulate exactly what the beer options were. My aunt ordered "the stout," and what arrived was a pint of the oak-aged Ten Fidy. This worked well for her, but I don't suppose all aunts would have found it so delicious. Then again, maybe all aunts wouldn't have ordered the stout. In any case, I thought this might have been a place for clarification on the part of the server, as there were 2 stouts on the menu, but only one on tap today.

Family friendly, from my perspective, at least the upstairs was, and certainly during the dinner hour. Great stop and I look forward to a return.

this place has good food and good beer. i had never had any of their beers before. i tried the gordon IPA and it was really good. i also had their brown ale and it was equally as good. i heard the waitress telling the people next to us that they had a brew called smoke on the water that was aged in whiskey barrels or something along those lines. their menu is quite expansive for a bar. they have burgers, sandwiches, and more homestyle type dishes. i really dig their choices on the menu. i got the silo burger-1/2 lb with pulled pork, bacon, pepperjack cheese, and red hot. awesome. one of the best burgers i've ever had. my lady friend got a crab cake sandwich and she liked it but i didn't try it. excellent fries. i plan on making the 45 min trip to lyons more often.

Went to Lyons to the original location. They have great beer. Most of their beer is heavy on the alcohol which is not a bad thing. I really liked the Gordon's IPA. The Dales Pale is also really good beer. They have a cool bar downstairs and restaraunt upstairs. Although we did not get to check it out Oscar Blue's has a brewing facility about twenty minutes away in Longmont Co. They said that you can take a tour and such. I definately would reccomend checking this place out if you are in the area.
