It is a small bar off of hwy 94. I live about 10 min away but just finally made it there, I know a bartender there as well.

The theme is loud rock and rap plus sports on all the tvs. If they had NHL center Ice it would be better, but they only have the local channels for hockey I believe.

They have a large selection of taps and bottled beer. The cask of HopSlam had unfortunately run out. Some of the bottles listed are unavailable such as Dinkel Acker and Kasteel Rouge. They also list Westvleteren 12 and Darklord on their list, and my friend can confirm they do sometimes stock them.

The beer seemed relatively cheap, the Fruli on tap was cheaper than what you would buy it for at the store.

The tap lines seemed clean, the HopWhore I had seemed a lot different from the bottle but there wasn't exactly off-flavor. They have a surprisingly large menu considering the tiny amount of dining space. The food was as good as any bar or chain restaurant, with large portions and cheap. The service was attractive and friendly with a decent though not immense knowledge of the beer. Sometimes they forget to give you a glass with your bottle. Most of the glasses seem to either be branded or snifters.

Overall it is THE destination in Kenosha and a very good one for the region (Milwaukee/Chicago metro). They are also expanding.

Uncle Mike's has a huge selection of bottled beer from all over the country and the world. There is also a very respectable selection of beers on tap. Yes, they do have Miller Lite, but I think that is the law in Wisconsin.

This is a welcome oasis that sits right next to 94, so it is convenient to stop when I am traveling through the area.

The atmosphere is not so good. It is setup like a sports bar with a million TVs. The good thing is that as long as the Packers are not playing they actually have a wide selection of shows playing on the different screens. It is not all sports.
This place is really loud, even when it isn't packed. The acoustics make it impossible for someone like my wife to talk to the bartender. Her voice just cannot overpower the noise.
Smoking in bars is still allowed in Wisconsin. This can make it hard to enjoy the beer if the crowd is really smoking it up.

They serve food too. The sandwiches that we tried were good, but the beer is the real reason to come to Uncle Mikes.

So I have some gripes with the atmosphere, but the beer selection and the location ensures that I will be back.

This is the "Highway Pub" incarnation of Uncle Mike's (there are 3 locations in the area), it's only been open a few months, but has the #1 beer selection in southern WI in my mind. They recently put in a hand pump, and rotate cask ales weekly (last one was Bells Double Cream Stout). When I was there, a Tyrenena Hop Whore was something like $3.50, and served in a snifter. Tap beers are listed above the bar with prices, in most cases everything is very affordable. A good amount of midwest micros (Bells, Founders, New Glarus) with some WI focus, and also quality imports on draft. The taps were broken up in three separate stations, so it was easier to look up at the board to see what was on.

The atmosphere is sort of a northwoods lodge meets sports bar, with a large zig-zagging bar. It was sort of boot-shaped, and ended in a circular table. There was some smoking, but the high ceilings and fans seemed to take care of it. There were flatscreen tv's numbering in the double digits, pretty much everywhere you looked, with different satellite games on each one. There was an awesome super-long electronic shuffleboard table at the front near the windows. The crowd was a mix of sports fans, townies, and beer geeks. The guys next to me had a Zymurgy mag on the bar, and the older guy on my left was trying Two Hearted for the first time. The staff seemed to be introducing craft beer to some patrons, which is a step in the right direction. On my 2nd visit on a Sunday, the football crowd was pretty rowdy, screaming and pounding the bar every five minutes. Your mileage may vary, depending on the day and time you visit. Mondays are $1 off drafts.

We got burgers for lunch, I tried the bleu cheese one, and it was really tasty, served on quality bread with nice waffle-cut fries. There was a dinner special listed on a chalkboard on the back wall near the kitchen, an Argentine steak with chimichurri sauce for under $12! Second visit, the bacon cheddar BBQ burger was tasty, and the mac & cheese was pretty good also.

Their beer list is actually a spiral bound book, complete with original descriptions and ratings from the online beer sites. There are quite a few gems and quality micro and import options at very affordable prices. There's also plenty of beers listed that a BA wouldn't be interested in so much. I'm planning to stop here again, whenever we take a road trip north on 94...
