Update on 8-17-11
Wow, what a change for the worse. They now only have 2 South Shore beers on tap (Cream Ale & Nut Brown). The rest of the taps were Bud, Bud Light, Stella, MGD 64, Miller Lite, Leines Original, and Leines Weiss…..

The waiter told me no one really comes to drink at the bar now as they are now more of a family restaurant.

Kind of bummed as they almost share a parking lot with the hotel I stay at in Hayward.

Good news is South Shore beers are only $3 per pint.

Update on 7-16-10.
They are no longer brewing beer on-site. The tanks have been removed and the old brewing room is now the pool table area.

They are getting all their beers from South Shore in Ashland, WI. The brewer at South Shore used to comedown to Hayward to brew but is now sending kegs. I’m not sure if the brewing system at South Shore works better, but the beers are much improved then when they brewed on-site. Worth a visit!

Orignal Review

Located next to the Comfort Suites & near the place where they hold the Lumberjack Championships…

The restaurant is in the front & the bar is all the way back near the patio.

I have had some outstanding service here and unfortunately just some average service.

Both the restaurant and bar were crowded. It was a nice, friendly crowd and I had some good conversations with the other patrons.

Unfortunately, there were a high percentage of smokers, which hampered my enjoyment a bit. Their smoke eating machines did do a fair job of keeping the air clean, but it could be better.

The food was a bit pricy, but very good. I had a more than acceptable steak here. Extensive menu should hold options for just about everyone.

The beer selection was ok. They had six options while I was there. The three I tried were very pretty and well done (with the exception of a tepid hefe). The best was their Pale Ale.

Still, if I had to pick one brewpub in Hayward, it would be the Angry Minnow. This place had a little bit of a chain feel to it, but it is well worth a stop.
