linkI was able to try Joseph Holt at a number of Joseph Holt exclusive pubs in Manchester (Ape & Apple, Crown & Anchor, The Golden Lion, The Old Monkey). All of these pubs were bars exclusively and did not offer food. But each offers the expected pub experience in the UK- great atmosphere from having a few pints.
All the beers I tried were similar in finish, lighter ales but a little hoppier than I am accustomed to for English ales.
Specifically I had 1849 which apparently was an anniversary ale from a few years back. This had a different hop taste than any ale I have had in the US.
Sixex was the strongest ale I tried, was quite dark and had excellent roast flavor.
Fifth Sense is another unusual highly hopped ale, I didn't think it was as different as 1849.
