Mt Hood Brewing is my kind of pub.

Great natural setting, great views, nicely laid out bar area, friendly staff, reasonable food and great beer. Just wht is not to like?

Brother and I hit MHB as the first stop of a pub crawl last fall, after shooting a few pics of Mt Hood and enjoying the ride up from Portland. What a great spot and enjoyable time.

I went with the Ice Axe IPA, quite agressively hopped, and the Hogsback Oatmeal Stout, rich with strong coffee.

Had a great time here. Once your done either skiing or hiking the mountain nothing better than a few pints here on Mt Hood. Good beers with some good pub food. It will fill you u and keep you warm. They have a so so view of the skiing and as for parking if it is super busy you can find some further down the street. They have a wonderful selection of beers that I have tried and the service is just summer or winter help they no nothing about the beers other tan it is good dude. I have been there a few times and will go back each time due to it is the only thing in the area.

The pub is known as the Ice Axe Grill but it really is the brewpub for Mt. Hood Brewing. It's just off the main highway that leads from Portland to Mt. Hood on the Government Camp business loop. There’s a nice outdoor deck with 6 round tables and umbrellas (overlooking the parking lot and the highway, granted, but being outside in mountain air is always special). Inside is fairly large with lots of tables and chairs and an L-shaped bar with tall wooden chairs. There’s also a cozy seating nook by a fireplace. The lighting is quite good due to plenty of windows. The brewery is visible through windows from the main seating area. The walls are covered with knotty pine wood panelling and stone (fake?) along the outside wall. There are ceiling fans, copper lantern-style lights, and a TV over the bar (sound off).

The atmosphere isn’t quite local but fairly touristy, although not in a fancy way. It’s clean, etc., but doesn’t really give you the feeling that befits a pub where you can hang out and enjoy a beer.

The beer selection is all Mt. Hood Brewing and the range is mostly standard but it’s good and also features a seasonal beer or two as well as a cask conditioned choice and a nitro choice. Given that the beer is brewed on location, the price is high

Food consists of burgers and pizzas and lots of fried and cheesy choices but is of reasonable quality.

Yes, it is on top of that mountain. Highest brewery in the US? Not sure.

You can tell the water in this beer is goooooooooood. Glacial fed.

This place can be crazy during ski season but is otherwise calm and welcoming.

8 taps. Nitro and cask. I am a huge fan of the pale, the IPA, the blonde and the stout.

Really good, filling food; pizza, BBQ, big sandwiches, giant nacho (I usually mock a $10 nacho, this is worth it).

See if that donut shop down the hill in Welches still makes Mt Hood beer donuts!!!
