linkWinter Park is one of the last ski resort area's that has not completely been swallowed up by over-development (yet) and still has that small home-town feel as you talk with folks from around town.
Moffat Station is situated on the second story of the Winter Park Mountain Lodge and maintains some regular but funny hours. You should think of this location as more than just your average pub grub brewpub but more as a n upscale fancy white table cloth linen ten dollar burger formal restaurant.
The inside of this brewpub boast a rustic log cabin/lodge style decor and great food where most seats in the house overlook a great view of the mountains in Winter Park, Colorado. Make sure to bring home a growler or two.
Find Moffat Road behind this location and drive along the old railroad route to the 'Top of the World.' You'll pass an historic trestle and the abandoned town of Arrow, once a thriving railroad town. This self-guided auto tour takes you along one of the highest and most tortuous railroad routes ever conceived. Railroad men had to deal with huge snow drifts, arctic climates, and steep grades. The route was used until 1927, when the nearby Moffat Tunnel was completed. You cannot drive completely through Moffat Road as a rock slide in 1997 closed it off to passenger vehicles but the other side (East Moffat Road entrance) is accessible from Rollins Pass (Take Rt. 119 north of I-70 to Roosevelt Nat Forest and look for Rollinsville just before Nederland).
