This Brewery is right in the heart of downtown Sandpoint. It is small but has a nice wood bar and wood booths. They had a large selection of T-shirts. The breweing equipment is right in the middle of the brewpub. I started with the Wheat Whale which is a Hefeweizen and is cloudy, slightly sweet and lightly hopped but has no banana or clove flavors and a very slight bitterness to balance. Next beer was Tipsy Toehead Blond Ale which was also cloudy with no hop aroma, some malt sweetness, very lite and clean beer. Irishman Amber came next and had some lite crystal malt and was moderately hopped more in color and flavor like an English Bitter but a well balanced beer. Lake Paddler Pale Ale is well balanced not over hoppy or malty but a good "medium" level beer. I sampled some of the food. The fries are natural style and tasty. The homemade potato chips were thich and very good much like the fries. I had a good grilled "Gorg" steak sandwich with a nice horseradish sauce. The next beer was Ryes N Shine and had some slight malt sweetness. This rye beer has more of the dry rye flavor than most beers of this style I have tasted, a really great session beer. Strom Hammer IPA is another good beer balanced more towards hops with some lite crystal malt. Beach cruiser Brown has lite malt sweetness with lite hop bitterness to balance, a mild beer suitable for sessions with a slight acidic taste but a good beer none the less. Knot Tree Porter has a good chocolate malt aroma and the flavor is well balanced with chocolate malt and moderate hop bitterness. The service here was very friendly with a young waitstaff. Stop by if in the area and have lunch or dinner.
